Beschreibung

The success of the digital euro will depend on the ability of end-users to make payments in a way that is simple and accessible to them. For this purpose, end-users must also be able to pay and be paid in digital euros through an account alias (e.g. an account number, a phone number or an email address) without necessarily knowing the details of the Payment Service Provider (PSP) of the other end-user to be paid or pay. In this context, using an alias can be considered a more user-friendly method than using a traditional account number. To achieve this goal, the component will be composed of two different functions: - the setup and maintenance of a DEAN mapping table and lookup service which will link the Digital Euro Account Number (DEAN) of an end-user with a specific Payment Service Provider. This mapping shall be used for the purpose of allowing end-users to trigger a payment without knowing the PSP of the other end-user, so their PSP can route the payment to the correct beneficiary before settlement occurs. - the availability of this mapping table will allow the DESP to lookup for the relevant PSP associated to the DEAN informed by the End User and to fill in the payment message accordingly as such information is needed for the settlement of the payment request. The setup and maintenance of an Alias mapping table and lookup service which will link the proxy that identifies an End User (e.g. phone number or an email address) with a specific PSP. This mapping shall be used for the purpose of allowing end-users to trigger a payment without knowing the DEAN of the other end-user. The availability of this service will allow PSPs to validate whether an alias used by an End user when initiating a payment is valid i.e. exists and it is active in DESP. Using aliases instead of account details improves the user experience for peer-to-peer (P2P) money transfers, requires less data and reduces the risks of fraud. The need to develop such a feature for the digital euro will therefore play an important role in its acceptance by users, and hence its ultimate success.
